At Read That Again we believe that Jesus Christ (The Anointed One) is the Son of God and is God. He was born of a Virgin by the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life as fully man, fully God. HE died for EVERYONE and HE has risen and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He sent us the Holy Spirit to guide, teach and comfort us. In HIS death and resurrection we are set free from sin and reconciled to have a deep and intimate relationship with God.

God is Greater than the Highs and Lows

Updated: May 17, 2023

God is Greater than the Highs and Lows (GGTTHL) is a popular phrase that has been circulating in Christian circles for some time now. This phrase has gained momentum among Christians because it speaks to the unwavering nature of God and the hope that we can have in Him despite life's ups and downs. In this blog post, we will explore the meaning behind GGTTHL and how it can bring comfort and reassurance during difficult times.

God is bigger than the highs and lows symbol ring

To understand the meaning behind GGTTHL, it is essential to first understand the highs and lows of life. Highs refer to moments of joy, happiness, and success, while lows represent difficult times, struggles, and hardships. Life is unpredictable, and everyone goes through highs and lows. These experiences can range from personal achievements, financial success, or overcoming obstacles to moments of loss, grief, or failure.

In the midst of these highs and lows, it's natural to feel like our emotions are taking over. In the highs, we can get caught up in the moment and feel invincible. At the same time, in the lows, it's easy to feel helpless, lost, or even abandoned. It's in these moments that we often turn to something or someone to find comfort and strength. For Christians, that someone is God.

The phrase "God is Greater than the Highs and Lows" reminds us that God is always present, no matter the circumstances. God is not just present in the highs, but also in the lows. In fact, it's in the lows that God can reveal himself the most. When we're at our weakest, we're often the most open to receiving God's love and grace. He is our constant source of strength and comfort, and we can turn to Him in all circumstances.

The phrase "God is Greater than the Highs and Lows" is not just a catchy slogan. It's rooted in Scripture. Romans 8:38-39 says, "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." This passage reminds us that nothing can separate us from God's love, no matter what we're going through.

Another verse that supports the idea behind GGTTHL is Psalm 139:7-10. The passage says, "Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me." This verse reminds us that no matter where we go, God is always with us.

Reading the bible in Jeremiah

GGTTHL also reminds us of the sovereignty of God. It's easy to get caught up in the highs and lows of life and forget that God is in control. Proverbs 16:9 says, "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." This verse reminds us that even though we make plans and try to control our lives, it's ultimately God who directs our steps. God sees the bigger picture, and we can trust Him to lead us in the right direction.

The phrase "God is Greater than the Highs and Lows" can be especially meaningful for those who struggle with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Mental health struggles can make it difficult to feel God's presence, but the truth is that God is always there, even when we can't feel it. In the midst of anxiety or depression, it can be hard to see a way out or to feel hopeful for the future. But when we remember that God is greater than our highs and lows, we can find comfort in knowing that He is with us through it all. We can trust that God has a plan for our lives, even if we can't see it at the moment.

The phrase "God is Greater than the Highs and Lows" is also a reminder that our worth and identity do not come from our successes or failures. We are not defined by our achievements or our struggles. Instead, our worth comes from our relationship with God. We are His beloved children, and nothing can change that. When we remember this truth, we can find freedom from the pressure to perform or the fear of failure.

Overall, "God is Greater than the Highs and Lows" is a powerful statement that can bring comfort and hope to Christians in all seasons of life. It reminds us that God is present in the highs and lows, that He is in control, and that our worth comes from our relationship with Him. Whether we're experiencing success or struggling through hardship, we can trust that God is with us and that He has a plan for our lives.

In conclusion, life is full of highs and lows, but we can find comfort in knowing that God is greater than them all. This phrase is not just a catchy slogan but a reminder of God's unwavering presence, love, and sovereignty in our lives. When we remember that God is with us through it all, we can find hope, peace, and strength to face whatever comes our way. May we always remember that no matter what we're going through, God is greater than our highs and lows.
