At Read That Again we believe that Jesus Christ (The Anointed One) is the Son of God and is God. He was born of a Virgin by the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life as fully man, fully God. HE died for EVERYONE and HE has risen and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He sent us the Holy Spirit to guide, teach and comfort us. In HIS death and resurrection we are set free from sin and reconciled to have a deep and intimate relationship with God.

What is the meaning of the Chi Rho Symbol?

Introduction: (Meaning of the Chi Rho Symbol)

The Chi Rho symbol is a powerful emblem deeply rooted in Christian history and symbolism. Its unique design, consisting of the Greek letters Chi (X) and Rho (P), holds significant meaning for believers worldwide. In this article, we will explore the profound symbolism and rich history of the Chi Rho symbol, uncovering its origins, its connection to the early Church, and the message of hope and salvation it represents.

Origin and Significance:

The Chi Rho symbol finds its roots in the vision of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great before the Battle of Milvian Bridge in 312 AD. In this vision, Constantine saw a cross of light in the sky accompanied by the words "In hoc signo vinces" (In this sign, you will conquer). Inspired by this divine encounter, Constantine adopted the Chi Rho symbol as a representation of his Christian faith and as a protective emblem for his army.

Symbolism:

The Chi Rho symbol combines the first two Greek letters of the word "Christ" (Χριστός) and serves as an abbreviated form of the name of Jesus Christ. The Chi (X) and Rho (P) intersect, creating a powerful and visually striking symbol. Each element carries its own symbolic meaning:

1.) Chi (X): The Chi represents the first letter of "Christ" and signifies His divine nature and presence in the world. It is a reminder of Jesus' incarnation, His role as the Messiah, and His eternal reign.

2.) Rho (P): The Rho is the second letter of "Christ" and represents His sacrificial death on the cross. It is a symbol of redemption, salvation, and the ultimate triumph over sin and death through His resurrection.

Combined, the Chi and Rho symbolize the union of Christ's divinity and humanity, His redemptive work on the cross, and the victory over sin and death.

Early Church and Historical Usage:
